Daniel Calvin Jenkins, Jr., 81, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria, Ohio. He was born on December 19, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Judge Daniel C. Jenkins and Katharine (Montgomery) Jenkins. He married Edwina (Ervin) Campbell on December 20, 1969 and they later dissolved their marriage. He married Nancy J. (Morosko) Sharrer Jenkins on November 11, 1990, who passed on May 22, 2016. Survivors include his three children Sara (Adam) LeMaster of Newark, Amy (Karl) Kerschner of Tiffin, and Nick (Suzanne) Jenkins of Oberlin; two step-children Marcella (Ross) Mehrmann of Granville and Thomas Sharrer of Zanesville; seven grandchildren Cody Valentine, Gabriel (Paige) Valentine, Courtney Valentine, Ella Kerschner, Michael Kerschner, Isaac Jenkins and Albert Jenkins; four step-grandchildren, and sisters Kathe (Allen) King and Anne Brumbaugh. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nancy, and brother, David Jenkins.
Dan was a kind and generous man who spent his career in education. He graduated from New Lexington High School in 1963, Wabash College in 1967 where he was a collegiate athlete and member of the Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity. He also earned a master’s degree in education from Xavier University in 1972. He taught English and Reading in Morgan Local School District, then went on to teach at the Mid-East Ohio Vocational School and helped people earn their GED.
Dan was a member of the McConnelsville Methodist Church. He was a Member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge 111 where he served as Worshipful Master seven times, 1979, and 2011-2016. He also served as District 17 Deputy Grand Master and was a member of Valley of Scottish Rite, Alladin Temple Shrine, and the Morgan County Shrine Club.
Throughout his life he was able to impact many people in a positive, encouraging way and he will be greatly missed by his family.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where a Masonic service will be held at 2:15 p.m. and a Memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Dan’s ashes will be buried in New Lexington Cemetery in the family plot.
